Pumping in Me
Fola Komolafe
But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. Acts 1:8 (KJV)
The Holy Spirit Pumping on the inside of me! Sometimes I find myself using expressions in my personal time to try to explain what it feels like to be full of Christ and full of His Spirit and one morning as I was thinking about the great and awesome power of God in us, I found myself talking about the Holy Spirit pumping on the inside of me. I sort of think Jesus did the same when he used the illustration of a river flowing out of our belly to explain the power of the Holy Spirit on the inside of us. Jesus said it better in John 7:38 when talking about the Holy Spirit, He said, “He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.”
A flow is a continuous stream which is why one of the versions describe it as, “From his innermost being shall flow [continuously] springs and rivers of living water.” If you believe in Jesus, the Holy Spirit cannot help but flow continuously through you, pumping on the inside of you and expressed in songs, hymns, psalms, praises to God both in your understanding and in the Spirit. The excitement of believing on Jesus no matter what, knowing that He will come through for you and knowing that what He promised He will perform for you should get the flow going from our innermost parts and out of our mouths. Our innermost being talks about the core of who we are, our born again spirit, and so it has nothing to do with our minds or our senses. And so I hope that by now you are doing skips and dances in the Holy Spirit because you believe on Jesus.
I want you to grasp who how powerful, how awesome and how great the Holy Spirit is in you; and as you get to know Him by allowing Him to speak to you through the word of God, you get to see His power at work mightily in your life so much so that the Bible says because of Him you have overcome the world and everything in it that comes against you. 1 John 4:4 says, “Little children, you are of God [you belong to Him] and have [already] defeated and overcome them [the agents of the antichrist], because He Who lives in you is greater (mightier) than he who is in the world.”
The entrance of the Holy Spirit to this earth was incredible in Acts chapter 2 and the same power the disciples experienced that caused the world (all people around them) to stop in their tracks is the same power in us today. The verse says we receive power when the Holy Ghost or Holy Spirit comes upon us and that power makes us strong and credible witnesses of Jesus. A witness is someone whose life testifies to the power of the Holy Spirit that dwells in us and abides with us forever.
I love the scripture that says we are living witnesses showing that the Lord is upright and faithful to His promises. So let’s allow the Holy Spirit to be pumping on the inside of us, speaking in our understanding and in our spiritual language today! As He flows in us, His power will flow out of us and we will be His witnesses everywhere that we go.
Acts 2:2-4 (KJV) And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
