You have authority 2 : Victory in Battle.
Kayode Komolafe
And God placed all things under His feet and appointed Him to be head over everything for the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills everything in every way. Ephesians 1:22-23
When a nation sends an army to war and the soldiers in the battle front are being fired at by the enemy, the soldiers do not get on the radio or send message to the Prime Minister asking the Prime Minister, what shall we do? Should we use our weapons and fire back at the enemy? They have been trained and given all the necessary weapons to attack and subdue the enemy, so they have to use the weapons backed by the authority of the commander in chief.
It is the same for us Christians. In this life as a Christian, we start the battle from a position of victory. As part of the body of Christ, all things are under our feet, but we must know that, and issue the command, use that authority and our weapons for it to happen for us! The same spiritual qualities and the same authority and power inside Jesus are inside us. The authority was given to Jesus (Matthew 28:18) and Jesus gave us the authority, in Luke 10:19 Jesus said I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.
Let’s say your father was a multi-millionaire and you are homeless. Your father dies and leaves you all of his fortune, but you live out your life on the streets struggling because you never knew what was rightly yours! That is exactly where the devil wants us to be. We have a Heavenly Father and a Saviour who gave us power and authority and He want us to use this power and authority now in this earth to take back from the devil what he has stolen from us. What has been stolen from you? Health, finances, relationships, peace, joy? Everything the devil has stolen from you, you have a right to all of them, but it is YOUR responsibility, to take authority over the enemy and not allow him to steal from you! The Prime Minister will not go to the battle front because everything the army needs has been provided.
It is a spiritual warfare, but we are already fully protected, so be confident in exercising your authority. Ephesians 6:10-18 reminds us that this is a spiritual warfare and we need the full armour of God to remain standing and be on top when the evil day comes. If we know who we are in Christ and the authority we have been given and where we need to be and what we need to do to remain victorious, and we do all those things, our victory is perpetually assured. Remember these:
- Belt of truth – Have a clear understanding of God’s word. (verse 14)
- Breastplate of righteousness – active obedience to the word which we have received. (verse 14b)
- Feet fitted ready for the gospel of peace – Ministry of the word of God (verse 15)
- Shield of faith – Complete refuge under the blood covenant, where no power of the enemy can penetrate (verse 16)
- Helmet of Salvation – Hope in the salvation through Jesus Christ (verse 17)
- Sword of the Spirit – Word of God used in active sense (verse 17b)
- All kinds of Prayer and praying in the spirit, constantly approaching God. (verse 18)
Therefore, put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Ephesians 6:13. There is no suggestion of defeat in this verse, it speaks of unshaken victory. A Christian inside the armour, confident of protection can focus on doing what Christians are commissioned to do. Prayer does not become a chore when you see yourself as God sees you and you know your authority, you know what the word of God says belongs to you. You need those things now, here and now and not in heaven. Take them back from the enemy!!!
