In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Proverbs 3:6 (KJV)
It is such a wise thing to acknowledge God in all of our ways – big or small, easy or difficult, simple or complex, familiar or unfamiliar. Have you ever started something you thought was going to be quick and simple…and then it suddenly becomes drawn out and more complicated than you bargained for? I have, and know that I should not be deceived by my perception or human understanding of things. I need God in everything because simple can become complex, easy can become difficult, and familiar can suddenly become unfamiliar.
God is the only one who can make everything in our paths smooth, straight and successful. He wants to be involved in our life and wants us to invite him in early so that He can walk with us and direct us in the way that is right; ultimately leading to our success. Acknowledging God in all of our ways starts with us recognising, knowing and accepting who He is, and being fully submissive to Him and His ways. To acknowledge Him is to declare and confess Him as He truly is in everything, so that He can be what He is for you in all areas of your life. God will manifest Himself to you as you see Him for who He is. If you need healing, acknowledge Him as your Healer, if you need provision acknowledge Him as your Provider, if you need help acknowledge Him as your Helper. This is who He is according to His word and He wants us to acknowledge Him as He is in everything.
The dictionary says to acknowledge is to accept or admit the existence or truth of something or someone. I like this because when we acknowledge God in all of our ways, we are accepting and admitting that He is supreme over everything we do and we graciously welcome His divine intervention in everything we do because we trust Him to lead and direct us according to His good pleasure. Psalm 37:5 says, “Commit your way unto the Lord; trust also in Him; and He shall bring it to pass.”
If we are going to truly acknowledge God, we should also be ready to accept that God’s way of doing things is not always the same as our way because our human understanding can be limited. So we need to trust him, believing that He is directing and making our paths straight, smooth and removing obstacles that block our way.
I want to encourage you to acknowledge and recognise Him in everything early irrespective of whether you perceive the situation as one you think you can handle on our own. It is so important that you do everything according to God’s will and disciplining yourself to always acknowledge Him will build your faith, trust and confidence in knowing that your life and decisions are being directed, led and guided by Him.
“In everything you do, put God first, and he will direct you and crown your efforts with success.” (Proverbs 3:6 TLB)

That’s the best explanation of this important verse I’ve ever read. Acknowledging God in the everyday things is something I need to do more of. Thank you.
