”…I am the God of Abraham your father. Fear not, for I am with you and will favor you with blessings and multiply your descendants for the sake of My servant Abraham.” Genesis 26:24 NIV
In Genesis 26 AMPC, the Lord spoke to Isaac two times (Genesis 26:3, 24) saying to him, ‘I will favour you with blessings” and in verse 12 we see one of the ways in which he was favoured, “Isaac sowed seed in that land and received in the same year a hundred times as much as he had planted, and the Lord favoured him with blessings. And the man became great and gained more and more until he became very wealthy and distinguished. He owned flocks, herds, and a great supply of servants, and the Philistines envied him.”
In this world there are only a few places (I can’t think of any) where you can legitimately get a 100% return in the same year that you sow but THE LORD DID THIS because of his favour on Isaac’s life. In Christ Jesus this same favour is on you.
Gods favour is His overwhelming goodness and kindness in your life, transcending everything known, normal or natural in this world, for your constant good because He loves you. His favour is not just what He does for you directly but also what he causes other people to do towards you because of His love.
For example, in the life of Joseph. Joseph had been wrongly accused by his master who then sent him to prison to be bound with the other prisoners. However because the Lord gave Joseph favour in the sight of the keeper of the prison, instead of binding him, he made him to have oversight over all the prisoners and all that happens in the prison so much so that we are told he never had any concerns about Joseph because the Lord was with him and the Lord made everything he did to prosper (Genesis 39:21-23).
Awesome, but it all started not because of Joseph but because God gave him favour in the sight of the keeper of the prison. The normal and natural thing would have been for Joseph to have gone the way of others but God’s favour. Joseph was not related to the prison keeper or have any prior connections to him, but God’s favour. Gods favour will prosper you; it will distinguish you and it will open doors for you in the most extraordinary way.
God is not a respecter of persons however I like to extend the word ‘favour’ to see ourselves as Gods ‘favourite’ which means to be preferred to all others of the same kind. I love being preferred to other and being treated exceptionally because of God’s favour. I encourage you to see yourself as God says you are and to start declaring by faith how much you are favoured by God, declare yourself His favourite children and expect the most extraordinary things to happen for your good this year..
