For if by the one man’s offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ. Romans 5:17 (NKJV)

One man’s action can impact a lot of people positively or negatively. One man acting in obedience to God and His word can have a lasting positive influence on the lives of so many people in the world. You and I are the ‘one man’ and ‘one woman’ today and what we do, the actions we take, the decisions we make and whom we obey massively matters. One man can change the course of this world for God. One man, Isaiah, did just that when he responded to God to send him in Isaiah 6:8, ‘Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: “Whom shall I send, And who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.”’

God created man in His own image and likeness. He gave the first one man, Adam, instructions on how to live – what to do and what not to do. Adam had unlimited access to God and he fellowshipped with God regularly. His spirit was alive to God and the things of God. However, one day, this “one man” disobeyed God and the offence he committed meant that from him to all of mankind after him who had not sinned like him, death reigned. One man’s action caused the entirety of mankind to start off life spiritually separated from God. One man’s action of disobedience impacted the world negatively. I honestly don’t think that at the time Adam sinned, he realised what the resulting magnitude of the consequences of his action would be on all generations to come. Our actions matter, they have far reaching consequences beyond what we see or think.

But there was another one Man, Jesus. Jesus the Son of God who came to earth as the Son of Man to save all mankind from the actions of the first man, Adam. Jesus Christ died for us and made it eternally possible for every man to be reconciled to God. This one Man, Jesus was obedient to God in all His actions and consequently you and I have received the abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness that comes only from Him. So, because of this one Man’s actions we reign in this life, through the One Man, Jesus Christ, we rule over this life, exercising kingly power and the highest influence.  Yippee Yah Yah, glory be to our God.

The Bible talks about one man’s disobedience, one Man’s obedience, one man’s offence and one Man’s righteous act. The disobedience and offence led to judgement, condemnation and death for many. But the obedience and righteous act led to justification of life and many much more being made righteous. You and I are also ‘One man’ and ‘One woman’ today and all our actions matter.

You are always deciding one way or the other, so decide to intentionally impact many people now and in the days to come, for God and righteousness by walking in obedience to Him and to His word.
