But because of Him you are in Christ Jesus, whom God made unto us wisdom, righteousness, sanctification and redemption. 1 Corinthians 1:30
This verse is an absolute expression of the love of God for those whom He has chosen. Because of God, you and I are in Christ Jesus, whom God has made unto us wisdom. God has made Christ wisdom for you and I, meaning we have access to the wisdom (the ways) of God for any situation of life we find ourselves in. Imagine that! God’s ways are infallible, and wisdom is knowing what to do practically to establish and experience God’s purpose manifested in our life.
The wisdom that comes from God is not the same as the ways of the world or of the natural mind. The wisdom that comes from God sets you apart, it distinguishes you and makes you do things in a way that confounds or shames those who are considered wise, mighty and noble according to the flesh. I love the message version of verse 24 which says, “Christ is God’s ultimate miracle and wisdom all wrapped up in one. Human wisdom is so tiny, so impotent, next to the seeming absurdity of God.”
In the old testament we see examples of the wisdom of God in Joshua and Solomon. Deuteuronomy 34:9 says, “Now Joshua, the son of Nun, was full of the spirit of wisdom, for Moses had laid his hands on him.” The walls of Jericho fell before Joshua because of the wisdom of God in him. Solomon had so much wisdom in his life that the queen of Sheba had to come to see for her-self. In 1 Kings 10:6,7 she said, “What I heard in my own land about your acts and your wisdom was true! I did not believe it until I came and saw it with my own eyes! In fact, I was not even told half. Your wisdom and prosperity are greater than the stories I heard.”
Solomon prospered because he was filled with the wisdom of God. He said this in the book of proverbs where he talks about wisdom being the principal thing and therefore we should get wis-dom (Proverbs 4:7). Why? Because wisdom will make you happy, her gain or profit is better than gold, length of days is in her right hand and in her left hand are riches and honour (Proverbs 3:13-18).
I can tell you that the wisdom that we have today in Christ Jesus is so much more accessible to everyone because of God. This is why James was able to confidently say that, “if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all men liberally and without criticism, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, without wavering…” (James 1:5,6)
God has already made provision for us to be full of wisdom for everything through Christ Jesus. If there is any area of your life that you need wisdom for, ask God in faith and He promises to give it to you. As you do this, you will experience God’s way in your life in a manner that will astound so many people all around you and testify to what God has done for you.
